Tasting notes
Palish bright yellow. Very ripe, almost candied apricot aroma. Fat and sweet on the palate, conveying less energy than the 2016s that preceded it in my tasting. A bit exotic and blowsy, not to mention dominated by its oak element today. This is a full 12.8% natural alcohol but with low acidity of 3.45 grams per liter. Finishes a bit dry. I wanted more tension.

(blended the day before my visit, for bottling in September; 20% oak): Bright, pale yellow. Apple, yellow peach and spices on the zesty nose. A step up in concentration and personality from the basic village Chablis: tactile and brisk, with lemon and lime flavors accented by dusty minerality. Finishes with a dusty phenolic character and good length. Very good potential here. Jul 2016, www.vinous.com
