Tasting notes
The 2015 Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling GG has a deep, intense and flinty bouquet of perfectly ripe Riesling and citrus aromas. Full-bodied, intense and concentrated, this is a well-structured and mineral Grosses Gewächs with a long, complex and salty finish. However, this wine is more VDP GG-styled than what you were used to getting from the former Spätlese trocken.

A tastefully restrained fragrance combines ripe aromas of local fruit with a fresh, green herbal note. Even in a generous vintage like 2015 the Abtsberg has managed to retain lively acidity, which works well with its slaty minerality. A cool Grosses Gewächs from a hot summer. (MS)
Still a bit yeasty. and it takes a while for that funk to blow off. This wine manages to be light and delicate, but also ripe, intense and deep. It is also enormously lively, needs maybe a year to reach it’s youthful best and has a couple of decades ahead of it. The finish is very mineral, exciting, and long. Sep 2016, www.jamessuckling.com
