The 2013 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru has a higher-toned bouquet than the Echézeaux '13 from barrel with hints of cassis infusing the raspberry and strawberry fruit. The aromatics expand in the glass, gaining confidence and intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with good body. It is quite a sinewy Grands Echézeaux with superb sappiness on the dense finish. This will need two or three years in bottle but it should turn into a very assured Grand Cru.

Full red. Much cooler and more reserved on the nose than the Echézeaux, hinting at red fruits and wet rock. Silky, tactile and deep, conveying an impression of finesse with power. Wonderfully subtle, classically dry, soil-inflected flavors of raspberry and smoky minerals. The lively, rising finish features noble, seamless tannins and outstanding lingering perfume.
