The 2015 La Prade is another super-appealing wine from Nicolas Thienpont. Sweet floral and mineral-infused notes add brightness to the red plum, mocha and espresso flavors. There is plenty of 2015 richness in the glass, but La Prade also has lovely aromatic lift and saline freshness to match its delineated, classy personality. 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. Tasted two times.

The 2015 La Prade offers lovely energy and minerality behind the fruit, which gives the wine its distinctive tension. Graphite, violets, plum an black cherry notes are woven together nicely in this vibrant, salivating Francs - Côtes de Bordeaux. This is a decidedly tense style for the year, but it works. And quite nicely. La Prade is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc mostly from the limestone plateau. Tasted next to Puygueraud, from the same appellation, La Prade presents a more focused expression of fruit. Tasted two times.
About the producer
Nicolas Thienpont purchased this estate in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux in 2000. The seven hectares of vines average 40 years in age, divided between 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, sitting partly on the limestone plateau in the village Saint-Cibard.
