Tasting notes
Terrific aromas of pure strawberries and orange peel. Spanish-cedar undertones. Full body and a perfect balance of ripe fruit, hints of lemon and orange peel. Undertones of milk chocolate. Vibrant finish. This will be fabulous in three or four years, but difficult not to drink it now.

Voerzio's 2012 Barolo Sarmassa is round, sensual and inviting. Silky tannins and a sheen of new oak give the Sarmassa much of its racy, voluptuous personality. Dark red cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather flesh out in a succulent, forward Barolo that should drink well with minimal cellaring. Today, the new oak is a bit pronounced, but that should sort itself out with more time in bottle.
