Tasting notes
Already more meaty and ferrous than 2015 – as if already composted. Such an engaging nose! Excellent clarity and fragrance – really excellent and balanced with lightness yet intensity. Fine, fibrous tannin. A pinnacle of St-Joseph. (RH)

The 2014 Saint Joseph features some herbal and green olive aromas. It’s frankly not that fruity and is wiry in build, but it still gives plenty of pleasure. It offers complexity, balance and elegance rather than ripeness and power.
Opaque ruby. Highly expressive aromas of candied red and blue fruit, along with suggestions of exotic flowers, olive paste and smoky minerals. Sweet, penetrating and seamless on the palate, offering intense black raspberry, blueberry and floral pastille flavors that become deeper and fleshier with air. Pure and sharply focused, finishing with outstanding clarity, sneaky, well-knit tannins and a lingering violet quality.
Opaque ruby. A heady, smoke- and spice-tinged bouquet evokes fresh dark fruits, olive paste and potpourri, while an olive nuance comes up slowly. Fine-grained and sharply focused on the palate, offering concentrated black and blue fruit flavors that spread out and become spicier on the back half. Powerful yet graceful in character, finishing with outstanding energy and smooth, harmonious tannins that fold quickly into the wine's energetic fruit.
