Tasted blind. Fresh and beguiling on the nose. The tannin is less dominant than the fruit. Which is there! Even if it’s not (yet?) at all complex. Not a standout but competent. (JR)

The 2015 Talbot has an exuberant nose with black cherry, bilberry, wild mint and brown spice aromas. This has fine delineation and well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit mixed with game and black pepper. It has good density on the finish that shows just a tiny bit of alcohol. Give this two or three years. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting.
Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Leafily aromatic. Light tannins. Very easy and charming but not one of the most ambitious, though there are ripe tannins on the very end. (JR)
A big, rich wine for St. Julien with plenty of power and concentration, which enables it to carry plenty of spicy and toasty oak. The tannins need some time to soften, but the elegant finish says that from 2020 this should really impress.

Quality has not necessarily always lived up to this property’s Fourth Growth status, however there have been significant improvements in recent years, with a sustainable focus in the vineyard, and new winery and cellar.
