Deeply coloured, ripe and richly oaked, this is a serious, slightly figgy wine with firmish tannins and a chalky undertone. The alcohol seems a little higher than it is, such is the sweetness of the fruit flavours. Apr 2016, www.timatkin.com, Drink: 2020-2025
Pure red and black fruits of good earthy richness and weight; will gain elegance. This is not a second wine of Léoville-Poyferré but a separate vineyard. Apr 2016, Steven Spurrier, www.Decanter.com, Drink: 2020-2028
The 2015 Moulin Riche is dark, plummy and absolutely delicious. The more fruit-driven, supple side of Saint-Julien comes through in an attractive, forward wine endowed with terrific depth and plenty of personality. The 2015 is not a big wine, rather it is built on a core of juiciness, with sweet floral and spices notes that round things out nicely. Best of all, the 2015 should drink well early.
