Tasting notes
Sexy leesy complexity to the ripe aromas of orange oil and zest, nutmeg and freshly baked baguette . Plush, silky and large-scaled but at the same time nicely focused, with a captivating citrussy tang giving the wine considerable early drinkability. Opulent but not at all heavy. Finishes very long, with repeating soft citrus fruit and spice notes and an impression of strong dry extract. Piuze predicted that this wine would be on "a plateau of secondary aromas six to eight years after the vintage, like a big couch."

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur has a clean and precise bouquet with apricot blossom, flint and smoky aromas. The palate is well defined with crisp acidity, citrus fresh with hints of dried mango and a touch of pralines. I would have liked a little more delineation, but there is great persistence on the finish. Not as immediate as Piuze’s other 2015s, this will need to be cellared for 4-5 years.
(Piuze picked this vineyard at the end of a warm, sunny day "to accent this valley of maturity"): Very ripe yellow fruit and ginger aromas reminded me of a Côte de Beaune wine like Puligny-Montrachet Combettes or Champ-Canets. Rich and savory in the mouth, conveying an impression of saline extract along with slightly exotic pineapple and lichee notes. This opulent grand cru finishes very ripe and long, with a lingering nutmeg note. With no hail here, Piuze finished harvesting this fruit on September 10. Jul 2016, www.vinous.com
