Tasting notes
Moderately saturated medium red. Subdued aromas of red berries, spices and underbrush, with hints of leather and pepper (this wine was made with about 15% whole clusters). Juicy, spicy and light on its feet, showing lovely lift to its fresh strawberry and raspberry fruit. Offers good sneaky flavor intensity and immediate sex appeal. A fresh, perfumed wine with dusty tannins and good lift, this held up nicely in the recorked bottle. In fact, I raised my score as it gained in sweetness and texture.

(just racked; Bouchard owns four hectares of vines here; vinified with 25% whole clusters): Medium ruby-red. Aromas of black cherry, boysenberry and bitter chocolate are a bit stunted from the recent racking. Surprisingly sweet and pliant in the mouth, with dark berry and licorice flavors lifted by a violet topnote. In a rather elegant style, finishing with ripe tannins and lingering perfume.
