Selosse's 2005 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Millésime displays a golden-yellow color followed by a very intense yet super pure and terroir-driven bouquet with rich, beautifully evolved ripe fruit aromas along with chalky and iodine notes. Likewise, the palate features richness and intensity combined with iodine purity and terrible freshness (dosage: 1.3 grams per liter). This lovely, oxidative 2005 reveals tremendous finesse and elegance and finishes with great intensity, length and complexity. Very fine mousse. Tasted twice, at the domaine in Avize and during the Trait d'Union tasting chez Larmandier-Bernier, both in April 2018.

Two parcels in Avize, smells of creamed baking spices and lemon curd with a fresh mushroom edge ahead of some darker more toasty nuances. The palate’s dry and sheer, very complex and complete. Lemon drop acidity sparks amid a powerfully saline and mineral palate. Very long with a majestic, warming build into the grilled nutty finish. Grace and power, drink now.

The 2005 Extra Brut Vintage is once again remarkable for its purity and overall depth. It is without question one of the best wines in what was a very challenging year in the Champagne. Disgorged November 26, 2015.

A wine of cool sophistication and finesse, the 2005 Millesime is simply superb today and more expressive than it was when I last tasted it, about a year ago. An exotic mélange of citrus, lemon confit and floral notes infuses the 2005, a rich, deep Champagne loaded with class and personality. Even with all of its intensity, the 2005 remains light on its feet and gracious to the core. The Millesime is a blend of fruit from the Chantereines Les Maladries du Midi lieu-dits, both in Avize. Disgorged November 2015. Dosage is 1.3 grams per liter.
