Tasting notes
The 2014 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes includes just a little whole bunch fruit from the parcel of older vines. The nose is already very attractive, the 30% new oak nicely integrated with the red cherries, wild strawberry and citrus aromas. The palate is clean and fresh with a keen line of acidity, tensile with a chalky texture in the mouth, dovetailing into an almost Pommard-like finish with impressive structure and linearity. It will need 3-4 years in bottle, but should turn out to be a fine Volnay.

30% new oak. Two equal parcels: planted 1938 and 2000. Bright crimson. Seductive, intense almost purple-fruited nose. Sweet and round. Real energy as well as depth of ripe fruit. Racy and wonderfully vibrant. Saline and so fresh! Lots of matière . (JR)
