The 2014 Montrachet Grand Cru has an attractive bouquet like the Criots Bâtard Montrachet with a touch of spearmint infusing the citrus fruit. This has satisfying intensity. The palate is rounded on the entry that rather detracts from the tension and energy of this Montrachet. Like Louis Latour's other 2014 whites, it just lacks complexity and mineralité towards the finish, just a dab of ginger lingering on the aftertaste.

Other than a discreet application of wood, this is aromatically all but mute as the nose is pungently reduced. There is terrific mid-palate density and superb power with knock-out intensity to the large-scaled flavors that deliver strikingly good depth and length on the notably dry finish. As is usually the case with the Latour Montrachet this isn't going to wow you with its sheer size and weight but the length is jaw-droppingly good. 93-95
About the producer
The Latour family has been growing vines in Burgundy since at least 1731. Their négociant business – today one of the region’s biggest names – was founded in 1797. Still family-owned today, the company owns 48 hectares of vines, 27 of which are Grand Cru, as well as its own cooperage.
