Bright, dark red. Pungent, vibrant nose melds cherry, redcurrant, licorice, herbs, minerals and spices, all lifted by a floral topnote. Wonderfully suave, silky, complex wine with a peppery topnote and excellent delineation to its red berry and spice flavors. Still rather laid-back and tight, with serious savory minerality combining with firm, dusty tannins to give grip to the finish. This is still an infant and holds out considerable promise.

45% new oak. Dark ruby. Power and some strong savour on the nose and then very charming sweet fruit on the palate that should see out the fairly powerful tannic charge. Just very slightly bitter on the finish. (JR)

(35% new oak; this was the last parcel Bouchard harvested on the Côte de Beaune): Deep red-ruby. Mellow nose melds currant, cherry, clove, underbrush and crushed rock, along with exotic cedar and coconut oak notes and a suggestion of dried flowers. Silky and concentrated, but with strong acidity keeping the ripe currant and salty mineral flavors under wraps today; revealed a touch of dried fruits with air. Finishes tactile, savory and long, with big, ripe tannins buffered by the wine's intense material. Suave, classically dry Corton from very thin soil over limestone bedrock at the top of the hill.
