Bright, dark red. A touch of leathery reduction to the aromas of raspberry, rose petal and smoky, truffley earth. Currently showing its darker Mazoyères side (which compromises roughly one-third of the blend) in the mouth, along with complex soil tones. This firmly built wine finishes with serious spreading tannins and lingering notes of leather and smoke.

Bright ruby-red. Wild, musky aromas of black raspberry and truffley underbrush lifted by a perfumed floral quality. Dense, juicy and tactile on the palate; distinctly spherical in texture, showing a sexy sweetness to its raspberry and smoke flavors. There are plenty of tannins here for structure but they arrive late, allowing the sweet fruit to linger.
The 2014 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has an exquisite bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and cassis fruit. This is very elegant and linear, great precision here. The palate is very well balanced, structured with citrus-infused blackcurrant fruit. There is that titillating prickle of salinity on the finish, a Mazoyères-like Charmes that should age well over the next 15-20 years.
