Tasting notes
The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur gives you everything that the Vaudésir does not this year. The bouquet comes sprinting out of the glass with vibrant citrus peel and flint-like aromas that are very focused and poised. The palate is very well balanced, saline in the mouth, very cohesive and packed full of complex saline, flinty notes towards the finish. Plus with the long aftertaste, you have one of William Fevre's best wines this year. This is an outstanding wine from winemaker Didier Seguier.

Very pale yellow. Subtle aromas of ripe yellow fruits and spices plus a hint of lichee. Rich, quite ripe and concentrated, showing good inner-mouth tension to the sweet yellow fruit and spice flavors. Large-scaled wine but distinctly austere on the back end owing to strong acidity. The yield from these 50-to-55-year-old vines was under 30 hectoliters per hectare in 2014, according to Didier Seguier.
The 2014 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru comes from south-facing vines. It has a crisp, slightly austere, stony bouquet that suggests more cellaring will be necessary compared to Bougros. The palate is fresh on the entry, very well defined with hints of orange sorbet and citrus fruit, a fine line of acidity and boundless energy toward the focused finish. This cocks a snook (sneers) at the Vaudésir at the moment. Superb.
Bright lemon-green. Highly complex nose melds white peach, lemon, flint and white pepper, along with an ineffable touch of brown spices. Very silky and rich but with lovely ripe framing acidity. Conveys a strong impression of saline dry extract along with an incredibly fine-grained texture. A wonderfully suave, seamless, weightless Valmur with superb mounting persistence.
