Score 93/100 · Drink 2021-2030, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2016

Pale, bright yellow. Deep, ripe aromas of peach flesh, flowers and vanillin oak. Broad, ripe, sweet and rich; deceptively accessible today owing to its sweet peachy fruit. Displays more body and sweetness than the Bienvenues, not to mention more breadth and salinity, but this wine will need longer cellaring. Less showy today, but then this is Batard. Mounts slowly and lingers on the classically dry aftertaste.

Creamily oaky on the nose, with some coconut as well as sweet oak spice. Powerful and rich in fruit in the middle, almost warm in its richness though it finishes bright and fresh, tailing off a little at the end. (JH)
