Pale lemon-yellow. White flowers, white pepper and crushed stone on the nose. Juicy, savory and dry; in a distinctly stony style, communicating strong soil character. Finishes with lovely persistence and grip.

Usually a relative bargain. Lightly reductive nose. Clean and crisp on the palate, but I suspect if I tasted this wine with a supermarket label on it, I would not be knocked out. Seems a little simple at the moment but perhaps it will develop more interest in bottle. (JR)
The 2014 Montagny 1er Cru from Jean-Marc Boillot has a strict, perhaps slightly conservative bouquet with bruised apple and smoky aromas, but never quite taking off as I might have expected. The palate is well balanced and offers more than the aromatics with attractive peach and Cornice pear notes, well judged acidity and just the right amount of salinity on the straightforward finish. Drink over the next 4-6 years.
(an assemblage of parcels; Boillot buys grapes and juice): Pale, bright yellow. Aromas of peach, apricot and lemon are joined by a suggestion of exotic fruits on the fresh, musky nose. Saline and reasonably dense, with a touch of sweetness nicely countered by acidity. Shows a slightly candied hint of mirabelle . Boillot will bottle all of his 2014s before the 2015 harvest.
