Tasting notes
Garnatxa, Carinyena, Cabernet Sauvignon. Very dark and deep. It has a pure nose with substantial aromas of pencil lead, ink, meatiness, ripe black fruit, forest floor and portentous oak. Intense but not over-made, very sweet and gorgeous. Vigorous but balanced. Clearly Priorat and extremely good now although it can still evolve further. (FC)

The 2005 Clos Fonta a blend of Garnacha and Carinena aged for 18 months in French oak, is a glass-coating opaque purple color accompanied by a fragrant nose of slate/mineral, licorice, espresso, incense, a hint of balsamic, black cherry, and black plum. Rich, dense, and loaded in the mouth, it displays enough structure to evolve for 4-5 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2015 to 2022, if not longer. Importer: C & P Wines, New York, NY; tel.
