Tasting notes
The white-golden 2013 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Rangen de Thann Clos St Urbain, from 50-year-old vines, is more dry than usual due to the late flowering and the cooler climate of the vintage, which finally brought healthy berries with virtually no botrytis. Clear and subtle on the precisely stony nose, this is a full-bodied, elegant and powerful, vibrantly fresh and mineral, almost dry tasting Pinot Gris; it has a long and salty finish, and lingering lemon flavors. Don't tell your guests the wine is off-dry and they will love it as a dry one. However, take your time. I would not serve it before 2018.
