Bright medium red. Red fruits and spices on the nose and palate, along with a whiff of menthol. Supple and moderately ripe, with a slight medicinal quality giving the finish a faint dryness. (Incidentally, Lafarge's Bourgogne Pinot Noir offers juicy red fruit flavors and should make delightful early drinking.)

The 2013 Volnay has a beautiful, floral bouquet with exceptionally pure red cherry and fresh strawberry fruit, almost crystalline (and I still had to get to the premier crus!) The palate is very well balanced with real tension. This is a nicely structured, slightly more masculine Volnay with plenty of energy toward the vibrant finish. Excellent.
Very pretty cherry red. Pure uncompromising fruit. Very sinewy. Needs more flesh, but cannot be faulted for thoroughbred class. Refined tannins and pure expression. (JR)
