(just four barrels made): Bright red. Good spicy lift and purity to the flavors of red fruits, flowers and mocha, complicated by game and soil notes. Silky yet at the same time juicy and taut on the palate, showing lovely ethereal lift to the flavors of red fruits, brown spices and peppery wild herbs. Offers a terrific combination of Chambolle high notes and Morey earth tones. This brisk, bracing midweight really glistens on the aftertaste. Looks to be an excellent vintage for this bottling.

The 2013 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru has an attractive, slightly candied bouquet with hints of orange blossom infusing the red cherry fruit. The palate is well balanced and fresh with a pleasant suppleness. The acidity is well judged at there is just a touch of spice filtering through on the finish. Easygoing, but nicely crafted, this improves all the time in glass and may merit a higher evaluation once in bottle.

A discreet touch of wood frames the cool and relatively elegant nose of both red and dark currant, earth, floral and soft spice hints. There is a notably finer texture to the more evidently mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess a focused, detailed and solidly persistent finish. I like the balance and the salinity as it adds a refreshing element to the overall mouth feel.
