The 2014 Château Clement-Pichon is mostly Merlot and has a spicy, complex bouquet of red and black currants, new saddle leather, spice, and dried flowers. It's elegant, medium-bodied, and a silky, seamless drink to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years.

The 2014 Clement Pichon has retained that extracted style of nose with rounded, simple crushed red berries and cola aromas. The palate is soft and rounded, a wine trying to surpass the limitation of the vintage, yet I feel that the fruit is subdued on the finish, possibly due to a touch of brettanomyces.

Very dark purple. Sweet and rich – almost right bank-like! Just a little sour on the end with a note of meat extract. Thick. But no shortage of density. Solid stuff in every way. (JR)
