Tasting notes
The 2012 Langhe Nebbiolo shows great character and great fruit intensity. If you are curious about the quality of Nebbiolo fruit in 2012 (for next year's Barolo), this wine offers great perspective. Sweet cherry and wild herbs merge with vitality and force. The wine is silky and clean with bright menthol endnotes to keep it lively. This Langhe Nebbiolo sees a simple, non-interventionists' regime of 18 months in large Slavonian oak cask.

The 2012 Langhe Nebbiolo emerges from young vines in Cavallotto's Bricco Boschis and Vignolo properties. Rich and ample on the palate, the 2012 offers gorgeous radiance in the open, generous style of the year. Red cherry, plum, spice and new leather add nuance on the juicy finish. This fruit gets a Barolo-like treatment in the cellar, with 22 days on the skins, followed by 18 months in cask. Cavallotto uses some of their younger and smaller casks here to give the Nebbiolo good early approachability.
