2013 Meursault Les Tillets

Reticent aromas of orange and honey. Gives a broader, drier impression than the Clos du Cromin, which is a bit more exotic. Ripe, rich and nicely filled in, with very ripe dried apricot and peach flavors framed by adequate acidity. This is purer than the last two samples.

Bottled early autumn 2014. Lightly smoky with a honeyed undertow. Sweet start and fairly well etched though still very youthful and slightly astringent on the finish. (JR)

The 2013 Meursault les Tillets saw 30% new oak (Patrick explained how he believes that new wood suits crus from more limestone soils.) It has a pure, energetic bouquet with lime flower and limestone scents that disguise that new wood with some style. The palate is well balanced and harmonious, the wood here a little more conspicuous, though that will be assimilated with time. It certainly rounds out the finish and lends it a more modern sheen, but it renders it very smooth and irresistible.
