Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2014
The 2011 Barbera d'Asti La Crena is deeply marked by the heat of the vintage and the inherent richness that emerges from these old vines. Black plum, dark cherries, licorice, melted road tar and smoke race across the palate in a deep, super-ripe Barbera that needs considerable bottle age to shed its baby fat.

Impenetrable crimson. Less exuberant and less dense than the Scarrone but with a minerally streak. Succulent, fluent and ripe, underlined by soft grainy tannins. (WS)
