The 2014 Giscours has a superior bouquet to the bottle that I encountered at the Southwold Ten-Year-On tasting, with light black fruit and forest floor, but there is a touch of Brettanomyces here that just shaves away some of the wine's delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy opening, notes of mocha and leather-tinged red fruit, turning slightly minty towards the finish. Unfortunately, the 2014 has never recaptured the elan it showed in its youth. This is a vintage that could have been better.

The 2014 Giscours has a composed bouquet with black cherries, violet and light forest floor scents. The oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshier than its peers, though it doesn't have the acidity to maintain sufficient freshness. This feels a bit chewy on the finish, as if trying too hard. It was a perplexing showing as it showed far better six years ago. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Dark and youthful colour. Open and leafily scented. Tannins are dry and still refined. Could do with a little more fruit at the core. (JH)

Frm tannins on display here, this has beautiful depths to the dark chocolate flavours, along with cassis and espresso. Showing beatifully well right now, this was not tasted in Bordeaux Index, but at the château a few days later and it absolutely shows brilliantly next to it peers.
