The 2013 Duo de Conseillante offer light damp earthy scents mixed with light brambly red fruit, though it comes across as a bit “skinny” after the excellent 2012 Duo. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin and decent substance for a 2013, although it feels a little hard and mean towards the finish. At least there is some freshness here, but it is a second wine that I would drink sooner rather than later. Tasted at La Conseillante vertical at the property.

This estate’s second wine, the 2013 Duo La Conseillante, is a light, pleasant, superficial, but fruity effort with no vegetal or astringent characteristics. It will offer uncritical quaffing for 5-6 years.

La Conseillante's 2013 Duo de Conseillante is one of the better and more complete second wines I tasted. Pliant and expressive for the year, the 2013 graces the palate with exquisite red-hued fruit, sweet rose petal/violet notes and gently spiced overtones. There is so much to like in this delicious, up-front Duo, a wine that punches above its weight in this very tricky vintage. The blend is 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc. The Merlot was picked between September 27 and October 5, while the Cabernet Franc was picked from October 5 to 7.
