I found both of these 2005 Cornas from Stephane Robert to show too much acidity and possess only moderate depth. Starting with the classic 2005 Cornas, it has solid notes of black raspberries, game and olives, yet has too much acidity on the palate, which gives the tannin a dry edge. Medium-bodied, fresh and still with some enjoyable components, I’d drink up while the fruit is still present.

Dark purple. Ripe blackberry and cassis on the nose, with fresh floral and anise qualities building with aeration. Broad and fleshy, offering sweet dark fruit preserve flavors and a kick of anise liqueur on the close. The tannins are nicely woven into the sweet fruit, adding solidity to the finish. More elegant than the Vin Noir, but built to cellar.
