Tasting notes
Immediately more lift here and more purity on the nose. Power. And this follows in mouth. Fresh and pure. Almost Vosne-like in its purity, lift and class.

A deep, pungent wine, the 2011 Barolo Cerretta opens with scents of wild flowers, sage, tobacco, red cherry, orange peel and white pepper. The Cerretta offers a bit more persistence and length than the Baudana, but here the tannins are quite intense, especially within the context of the year. The overall balance here is not as compelling as it has been in the past.
Beautiful mid ruby with orange tinges. More open knit and forward and a little more perfumed and ripe on the nose than the Baudana. Oatmeal thread runs through the fruit. Lots of ripe fruit framed by firm grainy tannins. The finer sibling of the two and not nearly ready. (WS)
