Richly scented, but not crude. Soap, lychee, cinnamon. Off dry, but clean and crisp. Gewurz with serious style. Jun 2014, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2015-2025
Pale bright yellow. Less explosive but more refined on the nose (fresh citrus, sweet spices) than the Gewürztraminer Réserve. Clean and fresh, but showing a viscous, mouthcoating quality to its sweet, honeyed tropical fruit and ripe citrus flavors. Finishes bright and long, with a hint of sweetness; this really isn’t a dry wine. Boxler likes to point out that he wants his Gewürztraminer to be a fun wine to drink early, while he looks for minerality and cellarworthiness in his Rieslings.
