Usually a floral, lifted wine, the 2011 Barolo Sarmassa is quite intense and dark in this vintage. There is fabulous persistence, depth and pure staying power on the palate. Dark red and black stone fruits, sweet spices and leather unfurl on the glass as this sensual, exquisite Barolo shows off its personality. The 2011 Sarmassa is bold and beautiful to the core.
The 2011 Barolo Sarmassa wraps around the palate with a sense of total seamlessness that is striking. A wine of pure texture, the 2011 impresses for its balance and total harmony. Intense dark red and black-toned fruits inform an explosive, totally voluptuous Barolo that expresses the more opulent side of the vintage. As always, the Sarmassa is one of the more intensely floral wines in the range.
