Mid bricky garnet. Smells so much more inviting than the Roagna Langhe Rosso. Mature red fruit, a touch floral, and just a tiny hint of undergrowth. Elegant, dry and chalky in texture. Moreish. Needs food. (JH)

The 2009 Barbaresco Pajé is gorgeous. Sweet tobacco, brown spices, dried cherries, menthol and leather are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. The 2009 doesn't appear to be built for the long term, and it is already a bit forward, but only in the best sense of the term. This is a beautiful, complete Barbaresco to drink now and over the next 7-10 years. All the elements are in the right place.
