Tasted blind at Fine & Rare Wines' Clos Vougeot tasting, the 2013 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru from Jean-Michel Guillon has a not dissimilar nose to that of Grivot: detailed and quite mineral-driven with precise wild strawberry and cranberry scents, and a touch of cola in the background that becomes more conspicuous as it opens. The palate is well balanced with crisp but firm tannin. This is a composed, harmonious Clos Vougeot with good matière and a pleasing saline character towards the sustained finish. This is not a grower that I know well, but this excellent wine suggests I should investigate further.

Tasted blind. Mid cherry red. The nose rather reminds me of Campari. Good ripe fruit weight on the front palate. Quite evolved and nervy but refined and impressive. Persistent. (JR)
