Full, bright ruby-red. Aromas of plum, chocolate and nutty oak betray a slightly tired raisiny quality. Large-scaled and full in the mouth, but in a rather porty, warm style, with little in the way of treble notes or vivacity. Any sweetness here is erased by a suggestion of walnut dryness and rather rustic tannins. that leave the tongue parched. A distinctly old-style Cabernet and not in a good way. This is fuller and richer than the Cask Cabernet, but shows less lift and drinkability. And it does not appear to be going anywhere good in the bottle.

Big and thick and sweet. Much less distinctive than the 2011 – much more Napa Valley mainstream. Quite harsh on the end and quite difficult to match to food, I should think. Almost 15%. (JR)
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon is intense, super-ripe and voluptuous. Black cherry, plum, mocha and cloves flesh out in the glass. The style is bold, opulent and in your face, while ripeness sits on the razor's edge of being too much. Over the last year raisined notes have become more prominent.
Super-ripe dark cherries, plums, cassis and mocha take shape in the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon. This is a fairly bold style, even within the context of the year. The ripeness and opulence of the fruit seems to reflect the heat waves of the year. Stylistically, the Rubicon is similar to the Cask, but with naturally more body and a bit more overtness and overall ripeness. The 2010 Rubicon is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Merlot.
