Round, sweet and smooth with a savoury finish. Definitely more Northern Rhône than Barossa in build. Fully ripe – amazing to think that some pick similar, neighbouring fruit so much later. Medium body and attractively cool finish. (JR)

Bright purple. High-pitched aromas of blackberry liqueur, incense and flowers, with a smoky nuance in the background. Sweet and seamless, with surprising firmness to the plush dark fruit and rose pastille flavors. This juicy, powerful syrah finishes with excellent clarity and lingering spiciness.

Medium garnet-purple in color and endowed with attractive aromas of crushed black cherries, fresh mulberries and red currants with hints of lavender, dried herbs and yeast extract, the medium-bodied 2013 The Shellac Vineyard Syrah provides a nice intensity of mid-palate fruit supported by a low to medium levels of rounded tannins and lively acid. It finishes long and well poised. This is a very well made, perfumed, elegant style of Aussie Shiraz (er? Syrah) that should have the capacity to drink to 2023+.
