Tasting notes
The 1999 Barolo Bricco Boschis suggests that the vintage was a complete success for this house, considering the importance which is given to the Riserva bottlings yet to be released. Medium garnet, its floral and balsamic fragrance has much thrust and penetration as well as superior aromatic energy and vigor. The palate, endowed with ample licorice and mineral flavors, is voluminous, dense, and long, with firm and supple tannins and an important rise in intensity on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2018. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300, Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel. Medium red. Spicy, high-toned aromas of mocha and underbrush. Sweet, intensely flavored and urgent, with good backbone and grip. Less charming than the '98, but this serious wine has very good depth and tannic structure for aging.
