Commune of Serralunga. Shiny mid ruby with orange-tinged rim. Closed and minerally on the nose but much more open on palate with iron orange and cherry. Grainy, big tannin but not harsh. Very enjoyable and long, if perhaps not the most complex. (WS)

The 2009 Barolo shows good depth and roundness for the year. Iron, black cherries, smoke and graphite are some of the notes that flesh out in the glass. The 2009 is a solid effort for the year. There is less Serralunga typicity than in the best years, but ultimately that is the essence of 2009.
