Tasting notes
The 1998 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina, a solid garnet, is richly spicy with vanilla and cedar aromas intermingled with the ripe red fruit. Powerful and velvety in flavor with a fleshy and sustained finish, its aging potential seems excellent. Drink: 2005-2015. Importer: Paterno Imports, Lake Bluff, IL; tel. (847) 604-8900

Dark red. Mocha, cedar and nutty oak on the nose. Then sharply delineated and penetrating, with strong acids giving the wine superb vinosity and thrust. Showing more vanilla, clove and mint than primary fruits today, but this rather powerful Brunello has terrific backbone for development in bottle. Firm and uncompromising on the finish.
