The 2011 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru feels a little muted on the nose, missing the fruit intensity that I have found on other vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, clean and pure red berry fruit that finally emerges towards the satisfying, silk-textured finish. It leaves the quality to the last moment so you are left with a positive impression - however, I hope that the aromatics awaken in the next couple of years. The 2011 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru demonstrates more precocity on the nose compared to the Corton Rouge. with perfumed kirsch and red currant scents. The palate demonstrates a brazen grip on the entry with a mineral, stony core of fruit. There is a herbaceous touch of creeping in toward the finish, which leads me to conjecture that this will be an earlier-drinking Corton-Bressandes. Fine. Franck Follin-Arbelet opened the following bottles when I visited his cellar to taste through his 2012s. Some real life to this wine. A hint of bitter cherries. Chewy finish. No flattery but it may well turn out to be one of the better value grands crus. (JR)
