This remains intense and concentrated, delicious black chocolate character, tight with the sandalwood oak remaining a little dominant. Enjoyable tomato leaf aromatics, a ton of graphite and slate, feels very Left Bank, excellent texture, but the fruit is far from generous at this point, so give it a little longer. No 2009 left at the estate.

The 2010 Marquis d’Alesme Becker is deep in colour. There is a tiny bit of brettanomyces on the nose, although plenty of fruit, cedar and light rose petal scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a lightly spiced entry, fine tannins, crisp black cherry, wild strawberry, white pepper and bay leaf. With decent cohesion on the finish, this Margaux shows good length with a persistent aftertaste.

Dark purplish crimson. Neat and fresh on the nose. Dark fruit and quite dry on the end. (JR)

Bright ruby-red. Dark berries, licorice, fresh herbs and chocolatey oak on the nose. Densely packed and sweet, with good flesh and breadth to the dark fruit flavors. Fine-grained and nicely filled in. Finishes with serious tongue-dusting tannins and noteworthy persistence. An excellent vintage for this chateau.
