55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot. Over-stewed fruit on the nose. Not as fresh as some. Plenty of damson and intensity on the palate, bit broody and claws out, trying to keep the taster away from the fruit. Dry sandy tannins, verging on thick and strapping. There's quite a bit of bitterness on the end. Not as much acidity as others, but it also seems to lack the grace of fruit and tannins. (TC)
This is a straightforward, easygoing effort displaying tobacco-tinged red currant fruit. It is pleasant and correct, but hardly inspirational. Drink it over the next several years.
A slightly rotten character to the fruit on the nose, but the palate is pure enough. Bitter, granular tannins. Displays the lack of volume so typical of 2013. (RH)
