Score 89-90/100 · Drink 2004-2010, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2001
Chocolate, blackberries, and dark cherries can be discerned in the aromatics of the saturated, dark-colored 1999 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru. Medium to full-bodied, big, and juicy, this wine is crammed with blackberries, spices, fresh herbs, and black currants. It is tannic, yet the tannin is ripe and sweet. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2010. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800.
