Score 90/100 · Drink 2013-2017, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2013

The 2009 Ornus is a late-harvest dessert wine made from Petit Manseng, a grape that is unusual in Bolgheri. Pungent white truffles, apricot jam, orange marmalade, burnt sugar and mint all meld together in the glass. A moderately sweet, mid-weight wine, the 2009 impresses for its balance and soft, enveloping finish. Former winemaker Thomas Duroux, now at Palmer, planted this parcel in 2003. (375 ml)
