Tasting notes
Pouring a light salmon-tinged straw color, the NV Champagne Carte D'Or Extra Brut offers notes of fresh apricot, flowers, and fresh biscuits. Medium-bodied, it's fruity, approachable, and delightful on the nose, with a pillowy mousse and a fruity but stony finish. A blend of 2019, 2020, and 2021 (75% Pinot Noir, 15-20% Chardonnay, and around 5% Meunier), disgorged in February 2025, dosage was between 4 and 5 grams per liter using only cane sugar from Martinique.

From Urville in the Côte des Bars, the NV Champagne Carte D'Or Brut is 80% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay, and a splash of Meunier. A bright straw/golden color, it’s ripe and fruity in the glass and beautifully expresses its pure and generous profile with aromas of black cherries, ripe peaches, fresh flowers, and shortbread. Medium-bodied, it has a compact feel, with concentrated ripeness and a pillowy mousse that rounds out the wine through the finish. A very appealing wine, it’s perfect for the autumn and winter months and ready for drinking now or over the coming 4-6 years.
As always, the NV Brut Carte d'Or is a classic, well-executed and perfumed Champagne. It evokes aromas of white peach, ripe orchard fruits, pastry and spices. Medium-bodied, round and enrobing, it's delicately vinous and framed by an elegant mousse, with a lovely, mouthwatering, ripe orchard fruits-inflected finish. This blend of 80% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Meunier was disgorged with 6.5 grams per liter dosage.
80% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay, 5% Meunier. 40% reserve wines. Dosage 5.5 g/l (liqueur matured in wood). Disgorged March 2022 (engraved on the bottle). Very golden colour, aromas of dried white currants and dried sultanas. Rich and broad, laced loosely with slow, lazy bubbles. Baked pears, warm croissant, candied citrus peel and panettone. Curvy and comforting. Could take rich food (or, even better, a hot, bubbling Welsh rarebit). (TC)
