Score 94/100 · Drink 2010-2018, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Apr 2010

The 2006 Gorvia Tinto is a blend of 90% Mencia, 5% Bastardo, and 5% Caino sourced from a single vineyard and aged for 14 months in French oak. Dried fruits, red licorice, incense, Asian spices, and black raspberry make for a sexy, kinky, altogether sensual perfume. On the palate it is impressively elegant, lifted by its vibrant acidity. Complex, lengthy, and full of finesse, it will bring much pleasure over the next 6-8 years. Quinta de Muradella, located in the town of Verin in the Monterrei DO, is a garage winery where proprietor Jose Luis Mateo and Raul Perez make wine from 34 unique, certified organic, parcels. A principal purpose of the project is to relate the history of the region through the wines. That fascinating story goes beyond the scope of this report, but Ole Imports has it available to those interested. Importer: Ole Imports, New Rochelle, NY; www.oleimports.com
