Medium red-ruby. Cool aromas of menthol and shoe polish. Offers good definition and structure but comes across as rather cool and medicinal, with some edgy acidity. Here I don't find the raspberry and chocolatey ripeness that was shown by a barrel sample a year ago.
This is a dark plum/ruby-hued, charming, but insubstantial effort displaying a deep ruby color, immediately appealing but light currant, cherry, and herb-tinged notes, elegant, medium-bodied flavors with hints of currants and sweet cherries, and a soft finish. It is ideal for drinking over the next 3-4 years.
Good red-ruby. Very ripe, sweet aromas of plum and tobacco. Sweet and dense in the mouth, with complex flavors of redcurrant, raspberry, iron, chocolate and minerals. A nicely balanced 2002, fresh but not at all acid. Finishes with dusty, slightly drying tannins.
