Score 92/100 · Drink 2019-2030, Neal Martin, May 2019
The 2004 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, served from magnum, is showing a little maturation on the tawny rim, but the bouquet is attractive and engaging with lifted red cherry, raspberry, raisin, truffle and well defined sous-bois scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, quite fresh on the entry with a touch of spice, nicely structured with a linear, rather precise, classically styled finish. This is a very fine Clos de Vougeot considering the inconsistency of the vintage. Tasted at the Clos de Vougeot retrospective at Clos de Vougeot.
