Medium red-ruby. Medicinal cherry and chocolate aromas. Suave and lush but youthfully unforthcoming, with sweet but reticent flavors of redcurrant, mocha, minerals and menthol. Finishes rather tight, even austere, with building but ripe tannins. This needs seven or eight years.

Deep ruby-red. Highly aromatic nose combines cassis, bitter cherry, licorice, mint, espresso and oak. Large-scaled, rich and sweet, with solid underlying minerality and impressive palate presence. A big, sweet style of Clos Vougeot, with strong fruit and an absence of rough edges. Tannins are quite fine, in the character of the vintage.
Cask sample. Deep crimson. Great richness and a hint of chestnuts on the nose. Medium charge of tannins. Good balance for mid-term drinking. Finishes dry at the moment, though persistent. (JR)
