Tasting notes
Good medium red. Liqueur-like nose combines strawberry, gingerbread, leather and decadent earth notes. At once sweet and savory on the palate, with strong acidity giving the wine excellent punch. Manages an intriguing combination of volume and crispness. The edge-free finish boasts terrific lift.

The 2010 Clos de Vougeot offers up crushed flowers, licorice, mint and sweet dried cherries in an attractive if somewhat ethereal style. The 2010 is gracious and also surprisingly accessible at this stage. Frederic Magnien notes that the malo was especially fast here, and that he planned to bottle the wine on the early side. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025 (Not yet released) Importer: Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300
(from vines in the northeast quadrant of the Clos): Good medium red. Floral, high-pitched aromas of pomegranate and cranberry. Juicy and youthfully closed yet also seamless, with superb precision to the fine-grained flavors of red cherry and pomegranate. For all its energy, there's also an impression of plumpness here. Finishes very long and vibrant, with elegant tannins for Clos Vougeot. An excellent showing.
